Overclocking

The maximum power and temperature limits of this card are 120 percent and 88°C according to MSI Afterburner. We set these in order to maximise headroom, but voltage control was unavailable.

In the end, we managed a very good overclock of +175MHz on the core, giving us base/boost speeds of 1,780MHz/1,945MHz. This translated to real-world sustained boosting comfortably over the 2GHz line, which is great.

The memory was less successful than on RTX 2060 Super, but there’s always a lottery at play with these things, and a final speed of 15.6Gbps (~11 percent increase) is still decent.

Results of the card running at these frequencies can be seen in a selection of benchmarks in the graphs below.
